Privacy Policy

This is a working template, not legal advice. The sections below cover the areas a UK GDPR-compliant policy needs. Before publishing, have the text reviewed by someone qualified to advise on UK data protection law. All three forms on this site — the project enquiry, the crew application, and the rental enquiry — collect personal data and should be covered.

Who We Are

13 Finger FX is a practical effects studio operating from Unit 7, Metro Business Centre, Kangley Bridge Road, London SE26 5BW. For the purposes of UK data protection law, 13 Finger FX is the data controller for information collected through this website. You can contact us at info@13fingerfx.com.

What We Collect and Why

When you submit an enquiry through this website we collect your email address and the content of your message. If you attach a file we receive that too. We process this information to respond to your enquiry. Our lawful basis under UK GDPR is legitimate interest: you have contacted us and we have a legitimate interest in responding.

If you are submitting a crew application we collect the same categories of information, and additionally any portfolio materials or showreel links you include. These are used to assess whether there may be a suitable opportunity to work together. Our lawful basis is the same: legitimate interest.

If you submit a rental enquiry we collect your contact details and the information you include about your project. Our lawful basis is legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information only to respond to the enquiry you submitted. We will never share your personal data with third parties for their own purposes without your explicit consent. We do not use it for marketing or add you to any mailing list without your separate consent.

Third-Party Services

Form submissions on this site are processed by Web3Forms, a third-party form service. Your submission data passes through their infrastructure in order to reach us. Web3Forms processes data in accordance with its own privacy policy.

This site uses Google Analytics (GA4) to collect anonymised data about how visitors use the site — pages visited, approximate location, device type. This data is collected via cookies and is processed by Google. No personally identifiable information is sent to Google Analytics. You can opt out using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

How Long We Keep Your Data

Enquiry correspondence is retained for as long as necessary to respond to your message and for a reasonable period thereafter in case of follow-up. Crew application materials are kept on file for up to one year. You can request deletion at any time and we will remove your information promptly.

If you tick the "keep my details on file for future opportunities" box when submitting a crew application, we treat this as consent to retain your information beyond the standard one-year period, for as long as you would like to be considered. You can withdraw this consent at any time by contacting us — we will confirm deletion and stop holding your details.

Your Rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to request erasure of your data, to restrict how we process it, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

This site uses cookies set by Google Analytics. A cookie is a small text file stored on your device. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; doing so may affect how some features of the site work.
